DU Donations Update
#385481 - 03/11/20 10:06 PM

Thanks to donors verybigkintama, Henrique Areias Pontes, ekorz, David Stevens, Jan Stuhler, Lorenzo Gatti, Paul Thacker, Fabien MARSAUD, Dane Biegert, Stefan Dawid, Russell Howard, Renato Mucciarelli, anonymous, ANY, Scott Moor, Sean Sutton, Mr Goodwraith, and Christopher Brownlee we got the following (sorry if I somehow missed a donor).

First is the biggest news, we got the now rare as hen's teeth TX-1 V8 to redump the bad roms and now the dump is correct and game works correctly. It's a miracle the roms from 1984 are still perfect.

We got Gemcrush with help from ShouTime.

We got Midnight Run: Road Fighter 2 (Euro) ver. 1.2. MAME currently only has ver 1.1.

We got Janken Game Acchi Muite Hoi (Data East MLC).

Lastly we got an undumped version of Double Axle.

There were a couple of ST-V carts a while ago as well but I can't find the names. That does it for donations, see below if you want to refill the pot.

My thanks to contributors also.

>correct and game works correctly. It's a miracle the roms from 1984 are still perfect.

This along with Data East Air Walkers, Irem's Green Beret, and Last Apostle...[months earlier] is a very good start for coinop preservation side for this year of titles I was not expecting to see being emulated at beginning of this year.

https://unmamed.mameworld.info/non_other80.html#TX1V8

https://unmamed.mameworld.info/non_dataeast.html#AirWalkers

And then adding a couple more Apple II cassette titles and other computer software also being emulated makes things better.

For the MAMEinfo file I am looking for information where Phil Bennett got the Arcade Board?
What is the history of the board?

See https://twitter.com/philbennett3d

27th February 2020: Phil Bennett - TX-1 V8: the 2nd edition of TX-1, featuring new tracks and gameplay elements. Released only in Japan as an entirely new cabinet with 26" monitors (versus the 19" used by TX-1). Incredibly rare!
22nd February 2020: Phil Bennett - TX-1 about to go back into storage until I can be bothered to wire it and Buggy Boy up for testing.

We had the bad dump for many years, we used the majority in DU donations to buy an "untested" board to redump bad roms and now have a complete good dump

TX-1 Lamp posts from Arcade Hardware new [Re: MASH]
#385510 - 03/13/20 02:32 AM Attachment: TX-1 Lamp Posts from Arcade Hardware.zip 3894 KB (3 downloads)

I like to thank Phil Bennett and even others for preserving TX-1 V8, tatsumi's most Super Ultra Mega Rare game as it got like only release in Japan.

Now when I play TX-1 in MAME the lamp posts on the left in USA Track & Monaco track the land is green but in the Arcade Hardware the land became blue and I have 4 Video files as I recorded from Funspot in July 2012 to prove that I'm right.

So, Air Walkers is officially dumped? Only heard rumors about it was possibly dumped before selling.

Another TX-1 version that is NOT in MAME Yet. new [Re: simzy]
#385519 - 03/13/20 07:24 PM Attachment: TX-1 (World) but with TAZMI®.png 15 KB (0 downloads)

No I haven't but Phil Bennett fixed the road colour issue as he thank me for pointing it out.

Just wanted to let any MAME developers know that there is another TX-1 version not in MAME yet. The version is very like TX-1 (World) but on the middle screen it says TAZMI® TX-1 instead of ATARI® TX-1.

Now the screenshot that I upload is a mock but there is real prove from this website:
http://www.ausretrogamer.com/tag/tx-1/

You look under
"Then one must take it back a notch to playing the three-screen marvel, TX-1"
&
"Gotta get pole position!"
you will see the same title screen as it is.

No SPAM here as I'm telling you the truth.

Good to know the actual coinop video reference proved useful and got that old issue fixed.

I am guessing a Japanese regional version. If it isn't (any alternate versions) already documented on undumped Wiki at this time, it probably would be if undumped Wiki can ever resurface and be up and running again.

Congrats are in order for finding and successfully obtaining V8!

I'd been wondering if we'd ever find a working set, and this may just qualify as the biggest win for 2020.

You mean Dance Dance Revolution Supernova and Supernova 2 run on Konami's Bemani Python 2 hardware (which is based on the PlayStation 2)? Guitar Freaks V, V2 and V3 and Drum Mania V, V2 and V3 also run on the same hardware.

My mistake. I had overlooked the page on Sixtoe's System 16 web site.

http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=831 KONAMI BEMANI PYTHON 2 HARDWARE

I corrected my post. https://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/sh...part=1&vc=1

Anime Champ might be able to be emulated if ever found, unless the game uses some odd type of hardware input mechanisms. Some games such as earlier hardware variations of Drum Mania are emulated, but it will take a while to get some form of control inputs arranged in MAME to support those types of games.

Oh, I also forgot over a week ago. Anime Champ and Kick & Kick (AKA Football All-Stars) run on Konami's System 573 hardware, Nice Smash and Perfect Pool run on Konami's Python hardware, Thrill Drive 3 runs on Konami's Python 2 hardware and Speed King (AKA Road Rage) runs on the Konami ZR107 hardware.

Does anyone know when will TX-1 V8 be added to MAME? Well it's been days, weeks and months since 11th March this year. Just curious, that's all.

Honestly, I'm just kind of surprised that you've been part of these forums since 2004, but have never realized that asking MAME devs "when" never garners a serious answer.

The simple fact is that none of us know, ourselves. The only person responsible for TX-1 V8 is Phil Bennett, and it's entirely up to him when and if he has time to work on adding it.

There's this weird idea people have that we're paid for our work on MAME, or are otherwise answerable to anyone other than whatever deity we choose to believe in (or not). If a developer wants to work on a given thing, then that's great. If a developer wants to work on some other thing, that's great, too. If a developer wants to take a break from working on MAME entirely, that's also great, it means his or her family gets more attention.

I know we all really desperately want our free games, but at the end of the day, try to understand that people can and do work on whatever interests them at any given moment. There are no time-lines, there is no time-tracking software, people just work on whatever interests them at at the time. That does mean that sometimes it can take months or years for something to show up in MAME that seems like it should only take a small amount of effort - but that's life.
