Hamster artwork

Has anyone pulled the widescreen bezel artwork from any of the Hamster Arcade Archives releases? Feels like that'd make a great fallback artwork choice.

I've included a screenshot to show which one I'm talking about.

Glad you brought that up... had a question.

Of all the "Arcade Archive" titles that Hamster that has been released... do they all have that same background? And no other options?

'Cause that's part of the reason I never pulled it yet... it's just... as barebones as they could make it.

For "completion's sake," I guess I should... but I'll probably just post it as a file that people can download, when the time comes, and they can use it as they wish.

But probably won't be for a while... I try not to release "arcade compilation" artworks until the actual games are far past their time of being "popular for sale." And they are still actively releasing titles, with that same generic artwork.

Next artwork release, that I'm working on now will have stuff from the Midway DLC for Lego Dimensions. One after that artwork from the Cave games on XBox 360, and a few other things.

But if it's still being sold today, I don't think it's right to straight release it when the game is still being sold. As an example... the artwork for the recent Atari compilations is beautiful, especially on the third volume, as all of those games have never really been available before, aside from MAME. But the third volume just came out last year, I think? And the same games were just made available as DLC for Atari Vault on Steam just a week or two ago. I have it all ripped already, and it does look pretty... but it's going to sit in a folder for another couple years on my computer probably.

Personally, I can see an upside to it also... releasing it can bring awareness to the original games, so in a way it can be free advertising for the company, if timed right. But to do it too soon out of the gate could actually hurt sales (hey, the artwork for this is cool... but why should I buy it if I can do it in MAME).

Wow... that was a long reply... I guess I just needed to let some of that out.

tl;dr... I'll do it... but it will be a while. Wish it was better, though.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.
