Using MAME, is there a way to load an arbitrary ROM into a system. For example, can I load an arbitrary ROM into the Sega Genesis? Something like: mame64 genesis "C:\Temp\rom.gen"

yes just use -cart
however it is NOT recommended, as MAME relies on the Software List pairings to avoid having to try and guess what other hardware is in the cartridge, and you're bypassing that resulting in lower compatibility.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I wanted to try a home brew Sonic ROM I found online called Sonic 3 Complete.
