WIP: Exidy bezels
#382316 - 05/05/19 11:21 PM

Currently restoring Exidy's Crash and Venture bezels.
FYI: just to avoid multiple people working on the same.

You might want to look at Comboman's cleanup then:

The DECO bezel... is currently in MAME artwork. The current version was also vectored.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

Thanks for the info.
Concerning Crash a different bezel ("smash") is provided for that game in your artwork downloads so I thought a restore may be needed.

Definitely still needed... Just thought it might be easier with Cam's version.

Also... THANK YOU for taking on Venture... That is one of the two games left that still have an old MAME.net version bezel that isn't top quality.

The other is In the Hunt... Which I have... Just need to get the dang thing scanned.

Venture was one of the first arcade games I played.
Restoration (vectors again) of the scan requires significant effort but I'm already at a good point.
Now trying to get some detailed pictures of the lower part from a different source as that area is a bit damaged in the scan.

Looking forward for your "In the hunt" bezel scan.
Can I "book" the restoration activity on that one when scan will be available ? ;-)

The Smash bezel was rescued from a collapsing barn in Colorado back in 2010. Thumbs up for picking up this project.

Thanks for rescuing it!!
Restoration and preservation wouldn't be possible today.

Looking for a bezel project. What's on the list that i can work on - looks like the most-wanted list hasnt been updated in a while? Have done a couple already (PuckMan, etc). Was off the radar for a bit with job-heavy stress, so need a project. Point me in a direction, and i'm off. thanks.

It took months but here's the bezel fully vectorized and restored.
I kept every detail including almost unnoticeable subtle color shades.
Distributor sticker removed, top "marquee" bent (original is actually protruding in 3D and backlit) and color matched with cab images found on the web.

Of course, you can only work with the source material you have, but the completionist in me has to mention that Venture is one of the arcade games I know of with a noticeable bezel variation. The "updated" (and I think more common) version changes the shape of the columns' bases, and adds pictures of "Winky" and "Hallmonster". Here's some pictures as examples:

Thanks for checking.
I'm a "perfectionist" too so I carefully search for and compare available pics when restoring artwork.

Actually I think there is/was only one bezel art; the variations seem to be just different crops (e.g. lower part of the columns missing).
I finally found some reasonable quality pics of the columns WITH Winky and Hallmonster, so that part will be ok in the final bezel.

Actually you're right: just noticed the column bases and instruction area are different. thanks.
