MAMEUI64 .209 not seeing Controllers in the Ctrlr folder?
#382133 - 04/25/19 05:25 PM

Hi!

I downloaded the Latest MAMEUI64 .209 build today as a 7Zip- did a clean unzip/install to a new folder an launched Mame. When I go into Options-> Default Systems Options -> Controllers tab... the "Default Input Layout" pulldown no longer shows me the various controller options I expect (hotrod, slikstik, xarcade, etc)... despite these files being present in the default CTRLR folder?

The last version I had installed (.207) in a different folder shows them and the pulldown works fine.

p.s. thanks for providing this front end - it's still my favorite!!

Has this happened to anybody else? I don't have .209 installed so I can't verify.

So no fix then for 0.209? That's unfortunate. I just started getting back into MAME and was hoping 0.209 would be good to go for a while.

Is there any chance of a fixed 64-bit 0.209? Without controller options, it's kinda broken sadly.

Is there any workaround?

Are all versions of MAMEUI64 affected, from all these sites?:

https://messui.1emulation.com/
http://www.mameui.info/
http://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui/

Does this mean that all other packages out there that contain MAMEUI64 are also affected? What about derivatives like MamearcadeUI 64? Just trying to understand how much this will affect me.

Does that mean HBMameUI 64 is also broken? And MESSUI 64?

I guess I picked the wrong month to try to get back into MAME.

Yeah, to confirm, I tested out various MAMEUI 64bit releases. As you said, Arcade64 works. But any MAMEUI64-based release is broken for 0.209. This includes HBMAMEUI 64 and MESSUI 64 also.

I guess I'll definitely need to update everything for 0.210 so that I have a working system.

I've been out of MAME for a long time, and just decided to start getting back into it.

FYI, The 32 version works perfectly well and will suffice for me just fine until the next build.

Much appreciated, Robbbert!

None of them w(sh)ould be any different, they're all based on the same source code, unless you do it yourself & roll your own or find someone willing to do it for you. And if you find what is supposed to be an official v209 that is working I'd watch out. It means someone is tampering with the code & who knows what else is in there. Not to mention they're violating the use/distribution rules a little bit I do believe...

The next version will be out in a matter of 3-4 weeks. All of a sudden that's too long wait to update? Not like you didn't wait a decade or so before updating this time...just sayin'...

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!

It's not the wait. Of course I can wait. It's the fact that I just spent a full week+ going through dozens of pages collecting all the accessory files and various frontends and variants and logging all the changes and notes I'd need to get a complete system up and running, and I was so close. Just waiting for the extras to get posted in a couple weeks, and I'd be done. That's a lot of work if you're just getting back into things. I know these guys work hard to get all this out there. But for somebody who's been out of it for while and just getting back in, there are lots of files to go find and keep organized. Progettosnaps hosts tons of the files, but not all of it, and there are tons of pages on his site each with a different file. Then it's off to some other sites for some of the other files.

So it's just frustrating to have to do everything all over again. Like I said, it's just bad timing for me I guess that the month I get back into it it's broken.
