The description of that video says it's not the original PCB.

best I can tell it's the common bootleg with the PIC that has terrible sound.
one was sent to Caps0ff but there was an issue processing it, so might need another.

I sent one to Caps0ff some weeks ago and it was dumped without problems (AFAIK), it was added to the driver, but was not hooked up.

Hmm maybe I'm confusing it with something else then, I thought that one fell apart and was placed on the repair or replace, depending on which is more cost effective, pile.

No, I see that it was not added... I’ll check what happened when I get home (on a few days).

You’re right, the PIC I sent to Caps0ff is the damaged one 🙁🙁
We’ll have to find another PCB.

Yeah, there is always a risk unfortunately, and some of the chips are physically not in the best shape at this point.
That's why it's important to never make promises with decap work, it's always "hope for the best"
Same with a lot of the stuff Sean is doing for us to be fair, but his track record has also been exceptional, there's only one case where we've ended up having to replace something because he couldn't get a dump when he thought it should be possible.
Don't underestimate the skills being put to work doing this stuff for us :-)

What if that the only board left. That mean it won't get fully dump ever. Even the rare board. Companies doesn't keep back up on their ROM's files. RIP. You are right about the risk of dumping. Some day there will be a better way to dump without damaging the chips.

That's a very naive way of thinking.
In many cases there won't be a better way, these chips / modules are designed to keep the data secure and if designed properly will do exactly that meaning without this level of hacking there is literally no way to get the data.
In some cases, yes, things might be lost forever because there is only one copy. Some things have already been lost forever for sure (look at the NeoGeo development boards which used SRAM to keep most of the ROM data alive) Everything will eventually fail regardless of if somebody is there to try and dump them or not. We can't preserve everything.
