I'll say good luck trying to track down the laser disc player hardware in case it uses pcbs with roms that will need to be dumped. Hopefully a player system that is already partly supported in MAME. Other than the thread with a familiar name or two...

There has to be a world/English language flyer out there that provides some minimal hardware specs or better yet a service manual in case any were printed back then.

That doesn't look like it's "based on System32", it looks like it's stock standard System Multi 32 hardware with a custom board sitting in the middle. Any chance of separating them and getting some good high resolution pics of that centre board? That'd help a lot to know what's required to emulate it. From the little that's visible, it doesn't look too complex at all, just a bunch of I/O.

Thanks for that. Yep, bunch of I/O. It'd probably be pretty easy to fake out and boot using the current MAME driver, minus the Laserdisc audio/video of course.
