....in a literal sense if only Pi (poster from Espana / Spain) were still posting around here these days.

I can imagine him posting something like that, but maybe something funnier. Elgo (elgondolero to the recent MW visitors) would have if he were also around.

I wonder if that heart machine qualifies as a candidate for "most unusual item emulated by MAME" (or rather if it will once someone emulates it)

So soon we can add
"Using MAME may save your life..." when talking about it...

Or even: "MAME may be used prevent heart attacks."?

And:

"Ask you physician about using MAME for your future good health..."

NICE!

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!

Interesting to see it in action and hopefully one of the artwork experts can recreate a decent artwork layout of the unit sometime later.

One of the top 5. The popcorn vending machine with the Sonic games emulated should be in the top 5 too. I was explaining that to someone a few years ago and the response was "Why?"

I recon that ANZ bank terminal would also qualify for the "most unusual" list.

On the odd side of things, but it may be possible pending the hardware input device arrangement and how flexible MAME can be with different input devices or vice versa. iirc back in the late 1990s, while in the waiting room of a doctors office, I was reading a medical trade magazine that was part of reading materials there and in back pages of trade magazine there were one or two advertisements for devices that could be an interface between a computer and medical equipment in which the patients real time data could be shown on the computer monitor as well as being shown on medical device.

The backpages advertisements were not articles and one would have to be in the practice to be familiar with the products. At the time, it wasn't something that was worth memorizing at the time nor writing it down on paper.

As a side example, Espen Kraft does demonstrate it is possible to be creative with adapting hardware to work together without needing specific input devices (such as electronic drum pads) to interact with drum brain component - https://youtu.be/Y8GOWf_DG-c?t=113

...by using "Bic Firth" brand drum stick pens as noted earlier by one of the commenters of the video clip. It is a drummer's type comedy sarcasm in tribute to actual brand name Vic Firth drum sticks which I always preferred and purchased. I miss the 1980s era when the sticks were better made back then.

Love made in Japan "After this 2:10 I just stopped caring about the Simmons. Drumming on piezo speakers: F*ing brilliant!"

Multitrack Cassette Fans "Espen Kraft uses Bic Firth drum sticks exclusively"

For those curious about all the sound effects being generated from Simmons SDS 800

btw: The fact that Casio RZ-1 is partially emulated in MAME is impressive itself. I hope the rest of the system can be emulated later.

DJ Boy plays correct PCM only in the Japan set.
Is the audio CPU ROM data common?

Have you played the US version of the game? I did and I remember it sounding odd back in the day.
