"Cassettes are one sided, so no flip side"

Does this mean that the data occupies the full width of the tape and thus the cassette can only be inserted in one way for it to work, or just that the same (regular audio?) is recorded on both sides?

(probably a dumb question)

Yes, these cassetes even have a label only on one side.
