DU: Sega prototype rally continues
#379570 - 11/14/18 11:11 PM

Ordyne dumped 2 Sega Rally Championship 2 prototypes from late 1997, about 3 months before the final game was done. 1st set was built 1997/12/29, 2nd is 1997/12/08.

Total Vice 3DO M2 new [Re: Smitdogg]

Hi, do you need a dump of 'Konami Total Vice 3DO M2'?

I think it is in Mame, found it not working in the MAWS database. Anyway, the creator of this vid says he'll dump his three discs if we need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjqwdJIST8c

Also, just in case someone is curious, this is the arcade museum page of the owner of Galloping Ghost arcade, lists all of his machines:

I'm not an expert on those discs and not at home to check dump status but most things like that are dump first ask questions later. There could be undumped revisions even if it is in mame, or marked as needing redump. The research to find out is incredibly easy.

Konami Total Vice should be in this source file

src/mame/drivers/konamim2.cpp

>Anyway, the creator of this vid says he'll dump his three discs

My guess is the discs will be redone at a later time by one of the emufriendly contributors, but it may be a while since the hardware has a long ways to go before being fully emulated and working.

Yep. Some entries already with comments and status flags set.

src/mame/drivers/konamim2.cpp

DISK_REGION( "cdrom" ) // Need a re-image
DISK_IMAGE( "639jad01", 0, BAD_DUMP )

At least it is a preview in case folks, locally there, are wondering what is in there to play. If anyone else is curious, anything that is not yet supported in MAME will have to come from another outside source altogether. It would be neat if they could help get some of the currently emulated hardware issues resolved or point out where there are issues of hardware off a bit such as pcb timings etc., but my guess is that won't be happening. It already has been discussed on earlier threads.

Not just the discs new [Re: Smitdogg]
#379583 - 11/15/18 07:24 PM

As far as I know, there are some undumped roms for the m2 system too.

These following games need that 7k eeprom:

  • btltryst
  • heatof11
  • hellngt (clone only. Parent has the eeprom)
  • totlvice and clones

btltryst is missing the timekeeper dump

heatof11's chd is not only a bad dump but incorrectly named. Should be "703eaa02".

evilnghte shouldn't even be a rom set at all in its current state. EAA for that game was released as "Hell Night". There could be other European versions of that game but I can't confirm.

Some m2 collectors use a program to patch the game discs to bypass the eeprom and/or timekeeper check for game swapping. Idk if that will be of any use or not.

Am I right in saying it is the same driver as Beavis and Butthead? Any idea if anyone is working on the 3DO driver?

Same company, nearly different hardware and specs. Konami m2 uses two Power PC 603GAs at 66 mhz each with a complex custom asic codenamed "Bulldog". The 3do uses an ARM60 at 12.5 mhz and two accelerated video co processors at 25mhz.

Where is the 7k eprom? The guy only has three discs, and he has discs for 'Tobe! Polystars'

I'm giving him this info to dump them:
http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title=Disc_Dumping_Guide_(DICUI)

If it's outdated, let us know. Thank you.

>Am I right in saying it is the same driver as Beavis and Butthead?

The 3DO hardware is in two separate files. Although Konami also made use of 3DO hardware in some of their specific games, Konami also used additional hardware components in order to run some of their Konami games. The game you are mentioning would be run in the 3do.cpp file, not the konamim2.cpp file

The source files have text descriptions showing the hardware layouts and some of the hardware components.

At this time, no major updates other than maybe some roms or discs that do get dumped and added to src/mame/drivers/3do.cpp at various times.

It's located on a sub board below the top board. PWB403045B (C) 1997 Konami Co., LTD. Wish you could read for once.
