one of the better moments during the hearing last week

This is the style that Al Franken would have used when asking questions and or pointing out examples of the GOP hypocrisy of those GOP that were against the sob-in-office during election year. Al Franken would probably applaud the method that Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) used when asking questions to former FBI agent Peter Strzok.

At FBI Agent's Hearing, Congressman Connolly Shades Republicans Who Also Criticized Trump

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) read past statements from Republican lawmakers critical of the president.

--

“You’re under oath, I want you to say yes or no,” Connolly told Strzok during the hearing. “The following email: ’Character matters, @RealDonaldTrump is obviously not going to win but he can still make an honorable move, step aside and let someone else try.′ Did you write that email?”

“I don’t believe I did,” Strzok replied.

“No, you didn’t,” Connolly said. “Republican senator Ben Sasse wrote that email. Another unforgivable sin, he should be here as well apparently.”

Connolly didn’t stop there.

″‘My wife Julia and I, we have a 15-year-old daughter,’” Connolly read. “‘Do you think I can look her in the eye and tell her that I endorse Donald Trump when he acts like this and his apology ― that was no apology, that was an apology for getting caught. I can’t tell the good people of my state that I endorse a person who acts like that.’ Was that you, Mr. Strzok?”

“No sir,” Strzok said.

“No it wasn’t,” Connolly said. “It was Republican Jason Chaffetz, former chairman of my committee.”

Connolly continued to point out the hypocrisy by reading out tweets and statements from other Republican lawmakers before Trump was president, including: Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), Rep. Barbra Comstock (R-Va.), Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.), Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala.) Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).

“So it sounds like when you were writing these emails in the heat of the campaign, you had a lot of company on the Republican side of the aisle,” Connolly told Strzok. “And now you’re an orphan. I wonder what happened?”

That might be entertaining for 5 minutes but it's ultimately a dumb as fuck move strategically to let any Republicans distance themselves from Trump or else when he drowns he might not be able to take the whole party down with him.

That hearing was hilarious. I can't decide who is showing the GOP to be absolute pure idiots more, Strzok or Cohen.

>he might not be able to take the whole party down with him. That hearing was hilarious.

What Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) was doing and was a smart move was showing differences from year 2016 to 2018. Many of the GOP congress were against sob-in-office in 2016 and were helping other presidential GOP candidates....ie: the 'anyone but...' routine.

In the meantime in 2016, various FBI agents were either involved doing investigations on Clinton and the private emails and server stuff, or the investigation of Russia involvement in beginning in late summer 2016.

GOP congress members were always claiming being 'Law and Order' and always siding with government IC agencies (FBI, CIA, NSA etc) with exception of a few cases that involve KKK or Neo Nazi, or militia groups.

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) points out of when talking to former FBI agent Peter Strozk was how current GOP congressmembers are now solidly behind the 'sob' and attacking any government agent that seems to make negative comments about 'sob' whether in public or private even if that means making a one time mistake when using government property (cellphone) and talking to another agent. Current GOP congress can undo their burden by removing the sob now and replacing him with the christo-fascist Pence after the sob's recent Helsinki, Finland summit even though that action will outrage the GOP delusional voters. As it appears, the GOP congress have now decided to stick with the sob and seal their fate come November 2018 elections.

So Connolly is pointing out that the current GOP makeup is siding with the sob over whatever the US government agencies have been saying. And that means the sob will drag down many of the GOP members that have not already left office by this time.

>I can't decide who is showing the GOP to be absolute pure idiots more, Strzok or Cohen.

The hearings with the FBI agents (Strozk and company) exposed the GOP congress for what they are and the Helsinki summit will probably do more damage to GOP now that other US citizens are starting to see that the sob is willing to suck up to Putin and side with Russia over US.
