We attempted to restore everything from the "month of lost uploads" where it would skip files if they were already present. It looks like it worked on my end but it's possible there might be a mixup on some subdomain, I doubt it but it's possible.

Not sure how long ago you came back online, but the time stamp of your post is 07/01/18 06:02 PM... which is still more than six hours from now... so what country is that time zone?

Prolly just need to reset your time zone maybe?

Or maybe MW is based in Europe, and maybe I never noticed til now.

It's probably that the messageboard software was written there so it defaults to GMT or something. You can set it to whatever time zone you want in your settings but you'll need to be logged in for it to work.

gregf's recent missing "For-Play" schematics are back on the FTP. If he hadn't removed the attachment links from the posts, his downloads would be working again.

That's proof enough for me. I'll see what I can do to fix up his posts at least.

[EDIT] Upon attempting to re-upload his Meadows Bombs Away schematics by creating a new post, I get the following error after a lengthy upload:
"We cannot proceed.
All of the required fields are not filled in.
Please use your back button to return to the previous page. "

hmm, perhaps all is still not well.

His other posts in that thread are working again now, at least.

nothing critical, just weird that it wasn't found in this latest sweep.

Let's keep an eye out for other 0KB attachments.

Hosted site issues and improvements new [Re: Smitdogg]
#377355 - 07/01/18 09:32 PM

ISSUES:

1. AGEMAME throws up a ton of warnings, wasn't previously: http://agemame.mameworld.info/

FIXED by AGEMAME

2. icons.mameworld.info seems to be toast: http://icons.mameworld.info/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
In March, it was still hosting something: http://web.archive.org/web/20180323103747/http://icons.mameworld.info (and its usual Flash menu)

FIXED

3. rbelmont.mameworld.info = "Error establishing a database connection"

FIXED

4. smf.mameworld.info (what remains of it at least after he gutted it years ago) = "Error establishing a database connection"

FIXED

5. teamjapump.mameworld.info = "Error establishing a database connection"

FIXED

[EDIT] Digging in my emails from this past week, evidence that R. Belmont, smf, and the teamjapump account need to request new database passwords since they may have been reset.

FIXED

IMPROVEMENTS:

Unbelievably, since the last time I looked at them (and complained about them), the following two hosted sites seem to have improved back to their original looks, since the last big server move/issue.

1. Tourniquet's website: http://tourniquet.mameworld.info/

2. Ville's website: http://vlinde.mameworld.info/ (though it seems at some point Ville deleted his YouTube channel, nothing can be done about that...)

OK for now let's just keep/add issues into your post there. I don't know if there are some DNS timing bullshit issues.

For the approximately 3 people who might want to log on, I've fixed the issues with the AGEMAME blog and its weird CMS/archive system.

I can now let it slide back into obscurity...

ISSUES: search option for specific words, or find a specific user post used to bring up an error message if user couldn't find any match and pressed the back button option [any web browser] and then user would have to start search back from the beginning.

Fixed: The MW search option has been fixed so if a user's search doesn't hit a match and user chose back button [whatever browser is in use] option to go back, no error appears and user is able to continue search without having to start from the beginning.

I use this feature a fair number of times if having to search for same content that I may have previously posted.

I fixed this somehow, don't ask me how, I tried a bunch of things and one of them worked.

I sent ComboMan a PM and we'll take it from there.

I did a sweep using Google and Bing and fixed most of the ones I could find (they all dated from before the server change).

Ongoing issue: It seems that you cannot attach attachments larger than 2 MB right now, it'll fail in various ways. We've sent a support request in to try to fix this.

This has been fixed sometime in the last 24 hours by our tech support.

*FIXED* Uploading new post attachments larger than 2 MB is broken *FIXED* new [Re: Smitdogg]
#377964 - 08/02/18 10:55 PM

This has been fixed sometime in the last 24 hours by our tech support.

Ongoing issue over the last month: It seems that you cannot attach attachments largerthan 2 MB right now, it'll fail in various ways. We've sent a support request in to try to fix this.

Forum members who are still having issues uploading file attachments to MAMEWorld Forums, this seems to be the remaining issue, based on my diagnostics this morning. It appears that file attachment sizes larger than 2048 KB (2 MB) will fail to upload, in multiple ways, following the server move. I haven't tried every supported filetype, but it definitely fails over on zips. (This took me a while to diagnose.)

I suspect it's not due to UBB.Threads but instead more server side.

Note that this only affects UBB.Threads forum attachments at mameworld.info/ubbthreads/ through the browser - NOT people uploading things to their hosted sites and subdomains on the MAMEWorld server via FTP.

What happens:
If the attempted UBB.Threads post attachment's filesize is between 2048 KB and some other number (let's say 7 MB or so) then UBB.Threads will update the post (and its database), saying that the attachment has been added. When viewing the forum post, you will see what appears to be a downloadable attachment, but the estimated filesize of that attachment will be 0 KB. When you attempt to download the attachment, you will receive a 404 error. This is because it was never saved.

If the attempted attachment's filesize exceeds 7 or 8 MB, then you'll receive an error message upon uploading: "We cannot proceed. All of the required fields are not filled in. Please use your back button to return to the previous page."

All this despite our maximum filesize for attachments of 50 MB.

We'll let you all know once this is resolved.
