Here is an interesting article on the 76477 sound chip (used in Space Invaders). The author mentions (footnote 7) that there may be a slight error in MAME's 76477 code. Can anyone verify?

MAME's 76477 code is grossly inadequate for how it's used in a number of systems. For example Laser Battle uses it with the output amplifier open loop, using that to gate/distort the output from organ synth chips. I'm not too worried about slight errors when the whole thing needs a rework to be honest.

The shoutbox comments [elsewhere] from a few days earlier towards MAME's src/drivers/8080bw.cpp source file would make tv show All in the Family character Archie Bunker proud.
