my mame noob question...

is there a way to see all platforms for a given game in stock MAME UI? If I type Rampage for instance, I only see the arcade versions.

I don't think the basic MAME interface supports software lists alongside standalone games, so only standalone machines show up in the UI. For example, "Super Mario" will only show the arcade games because MAME considers the NES version of Super Mario Bros. to be called "Nintendo Entertainment System / Famicom (NTSC)", with the NES software list showing up after you hit enter on that machine.

Your only options are series.ini or history.dat.
Both are generally tied to arcade games. History.dat however includes a list of ports for a particular game.
