Trackball/Mouse games work in MAMEUI64 but not through frontend

Weird problem. The interface and games that use the Trackball/Mouse work when launched directly from MAMEUI64 but don't recognize it (trackball just doesn't work) when I launch them through GameEx OR Launchbox.
Has anyone else had this frustrating issue? Joysticks and buttons work fine just not the Trackball and ONLY when started through the frontend.
Any help would be appreciated.

It seems that it was only MAMEUI64 v190 that was causing the issue. Vanilla MAME v190 works fine through both front-ends.
