I also noticed Big Buck Hunter II - Sportsman's Paradise has alternate versions not
yet supported. I am guessing the disk image source was not usable and a new image
needs to be created? It may have been mentioned a while ago, but don't remember the
exact reason(s) of why images are currently commented out for time being.

I just never got around to adding them to the main code.
Should be there now.

Thanks for getting Big Buck Hunter up and running.

>I just never got around to adding them to the main code. Should be there now.

Thanks. I was guessing maybe there was a question regarding the images and left off for some reason (verification etc).

*tangent topic anecdote*

I believe first time seeing Big Buck Hunter was at an arcade center (Arcade Amusements) in Manitou Springs, CO back in late 2001. I was more interested in the 1970s era games and was allowed to go to one of the back areas where games were at and I noticed a still working Kee Games Quiz Show in 2001 (supposedly thrown away by now). The reason why bummed about that is Quiz Show uses 8 track data tapes to load data into game play. It had been quite a while before finally tracking down supposed working Quiz Show tapes in early 2014. Andy Welburn now has them, but still need to find some method to have data read out and have support in MAME to handle the tape data for running Quiz Show.

I thought that Sega rewrite comment of "by 2006" was first posted by Aaron, but that kidding remark that became a standard phrase, I don't recall who first said it. I know it was first posted on ztnet hosted old MAME.net web site forum days because I recall the complaints posted in late October 2000 or it was October 2001 with "Aaron's memory rewrite broke Sega games". :-)

I used to operate a number of these machines. We bought a few kits and installed them in a few older Golden Tees (We had to modify the 25" monitor mount so that the screen was more vertical in the cabinet. Looked a bit strange but worked), a couple of Lethal Enforcers (mirrored screens), and one in a Mad Dog McCree with a 36" monitor

I got out of the business before any of the later versions appeared, so... there's that...

I'm sure it was OG, it was his rewrite

Of course Ted Green made short work of supporting the new HD image.

it was an OG quote, although in the end Aaron ended up doing a lot of the work, and I ended up finishing off a few bits of it a couple of years ago (eg. flipscreen needed by SDI and the cocktail only baseball games)

Golden Tee cabs and a Mad Dog McCree unit butchered for Big Buck Hunter? Oh no.

iirc there was a photo of a Star Wars (1983) cab that was somehow converted to a gambling game....that had to be one of the worst cab murders of the worst kind in my book. "Let's ruin a Star Wars cab...and have it running hi-lo poker instead."

The GT cabs were conversions anyway. We ended up buying a few new empty cabs for the 2001 kits, fashioning control panels for them (my business partner was a wiz at building control panels) and selling off the older 2000 kits. We never could keep MDM running with its POS laserdisc player, so we converted it and sold off the MDM hardware.

Now that's a travesty. I once had a Street Smart in a butchered Tron cabinet. They even left the black light fixture and panel below the control panel, and turned the marquee around, painted it with primer, and stuck the SS marquee on the other side. It had the typical shit gray paint over the sideart as well. A tragic conversion to possibly the worst game ever designed (at least IMO)...
