Is there any way to change palette colors in mame games?

I've been checking for years about the color bug in Gorf. I wish i knew something about the astrocade driver, i would just change it myself. Is the original programmer Aaron no longer working in the mame scene?
It had the right colors in earlier versions. I guess this will just be a permanent regression bug. Its not even labeled as a bug now even though it is.

Aaron indeed is not working in the MAME scene. It's more or less been many years now. Wife, kids, work, life, etc. Rarely, he makes a cameo appearance.
