Does this refer to the original Raiden or Raiden II/Raiden DX? I've already documented there being four major board revisions (common, older, newer, bootleg) of the original game, with some further minor variations in usage of apparently interchangeable QFPs/sub-boards. I know there are still various undumped PLDs and PROMs and I have great reservations about the integrity of the current bootleg set.

Just Raiden 1. You would need to get with him directly if you want to discuss proper changes.

I don't understand the question. I haven't played it so I can't answer anyway but your question sounds like you're asking if the bootleggers made interesting game hacks or if it's all just changes to get the game running on bootleg hardware, but that wouldn't make sense because every game you mentioned has had both types of hacked versions done, like Cadillacs 97 and the Chinese Punisher and the hundred SF2 Rainbow etc. So your question needs to be way more specific.

The only ones i know that are probably emulated are and probably use the same hardware:
The 2 cadillacs (with PIC) The punisher (with PIC)
And remember 2: (not emulated)
Sangokushi 2 (with (maybe), 2xYM2203 + 2MSM205, bootleg) Warrior of fate (probably this pcb show), exist videos in Youtube with a bit of gameplay with the typical (less SFX and cut BGM)
