Shoutime got the Seibu Kaihatsu CATS DVD System. It ran DVD-based strip mahjong games on this system between 1999 and 2006, as well as two similar Senkyu-like games (Gravure Collection and Pakkun Ball TV) using ordinary joystick/button controls. This appears to be the last major arcade game system by Seibu (not counting Fever Soccer).

One of the mahjong games sounds like a rap song - "TRAP ZONE - Pleasure Train of Lust". lol

good to see, did he get any of the games / DVDs too?

I've been curious about this one for a while, the games used to sell for practically nothing but nobody was risking buying them without a motherboard

Is the actual support for the DVD system of these games preliminary?

Interesting. I did a search on that DVD player model, and apparently it was also used by ParaParaParadise 2nd Mix.

I don't know if there's any available documentation for the DVD drive's low-level interface. However, I've disassembled one of the dumps and found some tables of CR-terminated serial commands that might be used to control it.

There is also one table of serial commands that is definitely not DVD-related. These pertain to the system's other (apparently optional) serial peripheral, a 3M MicroTouch touchscreen controller. This device has official documentation available, which looks reasonably complete, and an existing MAME emulation of it, which is not very complete.
