Hello,
I've just upgraded to mame .182 to use the stable controller ID changes that are present in it. I haven't been able to get it to work though. Whenever I add the mapdevice element to a ctrlr config file, I get a "Could not load controller file" error when starting mame. Has anyone had success with that feature? If so, any tips? I've been going off of the doc http://docs.mamedev.org/advanced/devicemap.html. I did notice it is for version .174 of mame, so I'm kind of wondering if maybe something is different about mapdevice in version .182 that isn't documented there.
Thanks!
Neal

I just figured out what was wrong, so I thought I'd post what the solution was in case others run into this. Turns out those Windows smart quotes were in the line I copied from the documentation. They made the XML invalid. Once I replaced them with normal quotes, it worked fine!
