How hard would it be to dump the data for Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy to use with MAME?

Of course. How else would it be in mame now?

They probably already exist. If you actually buy all the equipment and can't figure it out yourself then I'll help you.

You'll have to own the pcb, look at the rom chip types and then look in the chip support list for the programmer, but most likely it would work.

That's a bootleg. You would be paying for a pirated copy of the game and thus defeating your whole purpose. The original game used a mech hard drive and should have a Midway sticker. If it doesn't then you are buying a pirated game and that's worse than downloading it.

In that case I'm not gonna bother. All I could find on ebay to buy were those and "replacement" hard drives which are most likely the same bootleg material.
*sigh*

They're made from mame dumps. Just think if we hadn't dumped them years ago, all the drives could be bad and the game wouldn't exist anymore. Maybe time to revisit your views.

it's also kinda annoying because in some cases we KNOW there are undumped revisions of them out there, but people have stopped circulating the original drives.
Hyperdrive is definitely one, as we have the upgrade chips but no version that isn't already upgraded.
so if anybody does have ORIGINAL drives for the games, not reconditioned ones made from the MAME dumps, then please do dump them anyway.
also, it never hurts to have additional verification from original drives, one of the Carnevil sets in MAME insists there's a bad file on the drive too.
