That finale was poorly done, really did not make sense.
Since I only saw it yesterday, I won't say more.

This last season by far is the worst season ever in my opinion. Either a sharp turnaround ahead or it'll continue to be painful to watch. I think it's one of the best scifi shows of all time but it's jumping the shark.

The last episode I saw was the finale where God and the Darkness left together and the Darkness brought back Sam and Dean's mother.
What became of that?

There's very little remaining of what happened then. Less than in the other prime time show in which the male God has an "evil" female counterpart who is more willing to act than he is.
But I'm still not offering any spoilers.

What became was an incredibly lame and awkward attempt at adding a mother character then her exit. It characterized the whole season.

So they brought her back and then killed her off again?
What did she do for the boys, pack their lunch each day before hunting?
You know what I miss? Angel. Season 2 Angel, specifically. They ruined the series with Connor and the crap that was S5.
That whole Spike whooping Angel's ass thing was bullshit, to!

They wrote her back out after they realized it was a bad idea. An arm reaching to the sky for ideas in which they ran out. This (and other) shows should take some intelligence from Curb Your Enthusiasm and take a year off every now and then when you run out of good ideas.

Pretty much yes, it got to that point. Like they wanted to add in a "mom element" that other shows have or something. It was painful!

In the latest Supernatural season it is a mess of bad ideas. At multiple points they have Nazi episodes. In one Hitler literally gets a new body and you sit through painful garbage and bad fake accents seemingly just to get to the end scene where they make a bad twitter joke that doesn't even hit, linking Trump to Hitler. It's sad. Then since last season they set up a king of hell/satan/god/angel battle that you think is going to end with a bang and it sizzles out in boredom. Worst season yet and that is coming from a big fan. I've seen every episode.
