pfeMAME v1.002 has been released
Its been ages since I have released a new version. I believe the last version released had some pretty major bugs. This new release brings about a large number of big fixes and improvements and better support for MESS systems. For a full list of changes please see the changelog (v1.001 was never released publically so those changes also relate to this release). As usual, please provide feedback, bug reports, etc either via Sourceforge or [email protected].
Files can be downloaded from Sourceforge here. Precompiled Linux 64 bit, Windows 32 bit and 64 bit are available as well as the source code.
pfeMAME is a front end for MAME written in (wx) python. It has been tested in Linux (64 bit) and Windows (XP, 7, 10). Please read the manual before running as it answers a lot of questions.

Hmm. I'll give it a whirl. The two prevailing Windows-style frontends have nuances I haven't figured out yet how to fix. Emuloader seems to require screenshots be unzipped, but I like to keep them in archives (snap.zip, cabinets.zip, etc). For QMC2 I haven't figured out why it won't load software list roms despite the paths being set up correctly in MAME's .ini file. I thought I found an internal path I could set for it, but they still don't load. I think I read that software list roms have to be in a specific path, so that's probably it- right now I keep them on a separate drive to keep space free on my internal drive (the normal roms are in the normal ./roms folder and load fine). Both work fine in MAME's internal frontend, but it's nice to see alternatives.

Thanks for the mesage Qun. I dont currently support zipped image (snap) files either. Maybe something I can add in a future release.
