2600 carts????

I dunno for sure or not, but I head that MAMEUI now supports Atari 2600 roms. if this is true, where should I put them? in just the regular roms folder, or do I have to make a new folder for them? what about 5200 and 7800 as well? perhaps I had heard wrong about all of this, but if someone knows what's up, please let me know! I haven't updated in awhile, so i'm not 100% certain what's going on with all of the changes. thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Yes, since MESS was incorporated into MAME, Atari 2600 and others are supported. I have my 'carts' in MAME\software\a2600\. Launch Atari 2600 then use the TAB menu and file selector to pick a cart.
Better yet, try MESSUI. It has more features in the GUI. I didn't realize until recently, it now includes arcade titles. Essentially it is MAMEUI with more features in the GUI.

if you have roms in your rompath entry (mame.ini), just create a a2600 subfolder and put Atari 2600 games there.
mamedir\roms\a2600\
You need to use the same folder name as the .xml file names in mamedir\hash\ folder.

ok, great! and the 5200 and 7800 carts, do the same thing (a5200 and a7800)?, or are those even supported now? I guess that I should probably look before asking. lol. thanks for your help!

Yes. All the softlist files in the mamedir\hash\*.xml are the non-arcade stuff from MESS emulator (console, handheld, computer).
You just create sub-folder using those same names in MAME's ROMs path (without the .xml extension).
But remember, having just the ROMs of softlist games is not enough. You need the ROMs for the MAME machines to play those software list games.
a2600 machine ROMs set for Atari 2600 games.
