Coming up on the 20 year anniversary in a few days for the USA release. This was the only console I ever pre-ordered.

I have one but honestly out of 17 different systems I own this is my least favorite.

Really don't know why but it's the least played one I have and it does have good games, I think it's the way some of the games rotated while playing. Other than that I can't explain it....

I bought one, and only had KI Gold (I don't think I ever did an Ultra combo ). Then Tomb Raider 2 was coming out.... For that, I needed a PS. So, I sold it to my sister so she could gift it to my nephew for Christmas. I threw in the KI game along with it. ....Strange thing is, the thing (the console) wouldn't work when trying to play the KI game. When any other game was put in it it'd work. So, his older brother got the KI game, and he was able to play it on his N64.

To this day, I still wonder about that.

Bought one on launch day. Mario 64 and KI impressed the hell out of me at the time. Used to go to Toys R Us several times a week to play the demo unit.

Once I had it and wore out Mario, KI, SOTE and Pilot Wings, I ended up selling it and reacquiring it as other games were released. Golden Eye, Turok II, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Rogue Squadron and finally my beloved favorite, unmatched to this very day...F-Zero X....God Dang, what a racing game! 60 cars on screen, non-rubber band AI, well-designed tracks and awesome, if cheezy metal rock music. Other than the graphical Pop-in, it was perfect in my eyes. Played the piss out of that game. I wish Nintendo would re-release it with only the pop-in fixed and the screen updated for HD displays. GX on the GC was superior graphically, but it just wasn't the same under Sega's watch. Looked like F-Zero, played like a cheap quarter muncher.

I still hold the PSX and Saturn as my all time favs, but the N64 was a good system to have

F-Zero GX was beautiful but IMO, either the control wasn't precise enough or the game ran too fast. The AI wasn't as good as FZX and the sound FX were muted, resulting in me feeling seriously disconnected from the game. I had the same problem with the Wipeout series on Playstation. The lack of audio feedback screwed me over.

This was my 4th console (the other three being Atari 2600, 7800 and the Sega Genesis). I was happy being on the Sega side during the 16-bit war, but I always wanted a SNES too. Given the 32x and Saturn were not appealing nor too expensive I sold my Genesis, 5 titles and a Sega Arcade Power Stick II to a cousin and brought my N64 for the next generation so I could play Nintendo titles out of my friends and family's house. Super Mario 64 was great and months later I could afford Star Fox 64 thanks to another cousin coming from the U.S.A. that came back to Mexico and got me the cartridge new and cheaper. I enjoyed those two games like crazy, specially the Rumble Pack which made the experience different to anything other I had experienced before... then I came to the realization of my mistake.

Killer Instinct Gold looks like crap, the system lacked fighting games, the cartridges were too expensive I could buy two original PlayStation titles with the money of one cartridge, no FMV, no Tomb Raider, no Resident Evil, no Final Fantasy (a series I always heard talk about between Nintendo fans). All the cool games were on PlayStation.

I didn't hesitate on taking my N64 and two games back to a store and exchanging them by a brand new Playstation. I lost more money and I spent some time playing only the Interactive CD Sampler Disc 6. I trained with Parappa demo to learn the button layout. Then titles like Tekken 2, Tomb Raider II, Fighting Force, Resident Evil and Street Fighter EX Plus α made the console the best one I could afford.

Some years later I would repeat the same mistake with my 6th console (a Dreamcast), but unlike the N64 I still keep it and it brings the best arcade experiences I could ever had. The laser has worn out, it's now time to bring it back from the death with a hard drive.

Arcadia 2001, Intellivision and Atari 2600 were jokes, not a game consoles, so You should rank N64 higher then those... ...things !

How old are you? 17? Those are second generation HOME CONSOLE SYSTEMS for a reason different to simple taste.
