Exiting to desktop when press P1+P2
#358186 - 09/01/16 11:04 PM

Hello, I've got an old ps2 version of an i-pac and I'm using it to play games in Mame (version 0.133u3). My problem is that when I press the player 1 and player 2 buttons together, quickly, the game exits. This doesn't happen when I press them slowly or hold them. I can't seem to find any mame settings that would cause this, or even any i-pac settings. Any advice on what I'm missing and what I need to do to stop this problem? I would like the pressing of P1+P2 to NOT exit to the desktop. Thanks!

You should be able to load up the iPac software (WinIpac) and change that Exit function to other keys or combo.

I loaded WinIpac using an old legacy version. I could not figure out anywhere in the software for how to change the exit combo. Unfortunately I found 2 other combos that I didn't want: pressing P1start+down paused the game, and pressing P1start+right brought up the mame menu.

In the end I came up with a solution by tricking the hardware/software. I re-wired the P1start button on the jamma harness to the player 2 UP connection. That was set as "r" on the keyboard. Then I told mame that P1start was "r". Now when I press the P1start the ipac thinks I pressed p2-up (while mame thinks that r means start) and doesn't try to do any fancy combo functions. Problem solved.

not an IPAC. Comes preset differently, especially the older ones.
