Does this version also have protection and/or encryption on the PCB? A lot of Seibu's other games of that era have it, as we all know.

There's no getting around the basic hurdles or else we would have had some rare version emulated 15 years ago.

Once Kale runs out of interesting games to work on, he will have to settle for a soccer game.

You can always play the bootleg of this game called Goal 92 until the day comes when the original
version is Emulated in MAME.

Sure dont we all but Seibu Cup Soccer as far as im aware is the most protected of all the games using the Seibu COP Protection so therefor the most difficult one to bring to a fully
emulated state.

It might happen one day it might not but until then all we can do to get a feel of how the
original plays is to just use the bootleg bad graphics and all.

It uses the SEI333 (COPX-D3) system, which is relatively simple compared to what the original Zero Team uses and is already well-emulated.

I'd be interested to know if this set also removes 3P/4P support like the previously dumped set of New Zero Team. (Seibu actually kept the 3P/4P input reads in several of the SPI System games, despite that none of them actually support more than two players.)

It's not really any different to the set we have, except it's an original seibu set rather than the china? license, so yeah 2 player only.

There is a New Zero Team on the TYPE C hardware that ZT2000 uses (somebody posted pics here a few years ago, thinking they were going to get a Zero Team 2000, but ended up with New Zero Team) Unfortunately they weren't interested in getting it dumped.

The version on Type C might have 4 players (as well as EEPROM instead of dipswtiches) but the Type B PCB doesn't even have the connectors for P3/P4.

In all seriousness tho, just play ZT2000, the stage order in NZT doesn't flow at all and was clearly only changed to try and squeeze more money out of people.

Gotta admit i do find the Seibu V33 based hardware interesting apart from the differences in the protection
schemes the games use also in the sense of what other games might have been supported on this platform..?? certainly there is supposed to be a Raiden II 2000 running on as yet unknown hardware maybe it uses the Seibu
V33 varient..??.

For a while i held out hope that maybe some of the games in the Legionnare driver might have had a re-release
on this platform the most likey being Seibu Cup Soccer as it was developed by Seibu but i've kinda given
up the ghost on that now.

yeah, Raiden II 2000 is almost certainly on this hardware, I assume it's just like the Raiden 2 'New' version on the platform, but without the butchered stage order, however I'll be it still has the butchered audio.

Seibu just used it as a cheap way to put out games where there was still a high level of demand. As a game Raiden II obviously stands the test of time well, as does Zero Team, for a 1993 release it easily holds its own against the much later Capcom titles etc.

The market was already flooded with Cup Soccer boards (even bootlegs of it) so I doubt there was really much demand for that, there rarely is demand for old football games.

You can never tell with Seibu. Raiden Fighters II 2000 and Raiden Fighters Jet 2000 had a similar I-can't-believe-it's-not-bootleg sound system, yet Zero Team 2000 used the original setup. (Incidentally, there is a set of Raiden Fighters Jet 2000 on a SYS386H PCB that does not seem to have been dumped, though it might just have the SYS386I code with a different region byte.)

I think Seibu might have put the "EXCH" harness connector on the SPI board in the vague hope that they could make use of it in a brand-new 4-player soccer game.
