I would buy one if we have the current MAME version running on android first. I don't want to buy a new portable machine that will only run extremely outdated MAME versions (such as the infamous 037b5/b11 ou 0109 versions).

Even if i would greatly prefer a stock MAME running, there is a 0.174 MAME core for retroarch that works well on the GPD XD.

And is this core fast enough on the GDP XD? I've installed it on my 1st gen MotoG smartphone and it's painfully slow, almost umplayable. Of course I cannot compare a 1st gen MotoG with the GPD, just curious here

I need to test it a bit more, but the first classics i played were perfectly playable

If you get one going I'd love to hear your review of its ability to run MAME.
If there is an online review that mirrors you own thoughts, feel free to post a link. Most of the reviews are favorable, but I'm more curious about MAME specifically.
