So I have this Beastie Feastie PCB...
#356451 - 07/13/16 04:33 PM

Long story short, I dumped the ROMs from my Beastie Feastie PCB and they don't match any of the existing Glob/BF ROMs in MAME. I think the BF in MAME is a Pac-Man board conversion kit, while mine is a dedicated PCB (Epos Tristar 9000 board). Who can I contact to take a look at this? (I'm having trouble signing up at the Mamedev site, and the official forum doesn't look very active anyway.)

Nice PCB, never seen one of those.

I'm still hoping another IGMO turns up so that the colour PROM can be dumped but I have a feeling it's just such a bad game there are none left. Likewise Revenger (although that looks like it need a full redump to work at all)

btw, if colours aren't 100% the same as Super Glob / The Glob you might need to dump the PROM too.

Thanks. Didn't didn't bother with the PROM since it's soldered on the board. The other Glob/BF sets seem to use one of two PROMs depending on whether they're dedicated or a Pac-Man add-on. This one will likely use the PROM with checksum f4f6ddc5. If not, I can look into dumping mine.

I couldn't swap the ROMs into MAME since they don't quite match the other sets. This PCB has the program data consolidated into four 8k chips (Mitsubishi M5L2764K). By comparison, the Glob PCBs are on Tristar 8000 boards and have a line of eight lower-capacity ROMs.

it actually fits quite good in epos.cpp, using the "dealer" machine config and init. I need to figure out the dips and inputs and I can commit, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Thanks, it'll be great to see this in MAME. I scanned the manual last night. According to this, there's a service mode with an option for displaying the status and function of each dip switch.

I forwarded the dump days ago, did I forget to reply to your message? Anyway it's not ok to attach roms, I don't know why you would think that is ok. At the very least host them somewhere else and link them.

Yes there is. It's very useful. I'll try to understand how the 2p inputs work or maybe someone else will do it.
BTW, it's ok to credit you as "The Iron Goat" or do you prefer some other name/nickname?

Er... sorry, wasn't thinking. Noted for future reference.
Didn't receive a reply from you. Browser was acting up when I sent the message, wasn't sure if it had been sent.

"The Iron Goat" is fine. It's my all-purpose handle for most of my gaming/music activities.

Finally built a supergun a few weeks ago; started examining and testing the boards in my collection. Soldered together a Beastie-to-JAMMA adapter, and the board's alive. Woo-hoo!

(The high score table is glitched; could be because the RAM battery is ancient and leaking and needs to be replaced.)
