MAME 173, 174, 175 - Multiple Screens (broke again)

Similar to when it was broke on the 171 release, multiple screens isn't working in 173.

Clean install of the source and MAMEUIFX 173.

If you change -video to GDI or BGFX, you get some results...but AUTO gives some sort of error and two black screens. I can't even read the error, it's just the Windows10 'oops' sound.

Go back to numscreens 1 and it launches the game.

mame64 -numscreens 2 bublbobl

using all defaults in mame.ini dual screens is working for me.

However, when I ESC to close MAME I get a Stack Crawl.

I try the same thing in MAME174 and the second screen (marquee) is just blank.

Maybe I have to test it with two physical monitors, which I currently can't.

Beside that, it is quite interesting that you seem to have two different graphics cards. Might I ask you to deactivate one of the graphics cards and try it again, to see if that configuration could cause the issue?

I did a number of tests with 2 displays and everything works as it should.

No crashes or errors of any kind.

Well, I dunno. It worked in .172 and hasn't worked since. You're right, I've got screen 0 going to my GTX970 and screen 1 going to my marquee which is driven by my GTX960. I don't have any other way to hook them up to either card simultaneously as the GTX970 is in a graphics amplifier.

Well, I nuked my drivers w/ Guru3D and did a clean install of the 'Nvidia Geforce experience' and its display drivers...

No Bueno.

EDIT:

It will display on two monitors if I change the video mode to GDI or OpenGL.

GDI mode seems to accelerate the emulation (non-playable).

OpenGL has no HLSL filters.

BGFX will mash both intended screens onto Screen 1 (marquee monitor).

And Direct3D just crashes. I hear a Windows10 error message in the background, but no message. The only way out is to kill it in Task Manager.

The "Unable to create the Direct3D device (88760868)" error has been related to bad drivers in the past according to Google research.

Noticed this in the log posted:

Video: Monitor 000000000aa86ec8 = "\\.\DISPLAY1" (primary)
Video: Monitor 000000000aa07d68 = "\\.\DISPLAY5"

The secondary physical display is recognized as "DISPLAY5".

What happened to DISPLAY2, 3, 4?

Curious if anyone else utilizing multiple displays, has something other than DISPLAY1 and DISPLAY2, and no crash.

Perhaps the issue is with non-consecutive increment outputs. For instance, having DISPLAY1 and DISPLAY3 mixed together would crash similar to DISPLAY1 and DISPLAY5 combined [?]

Yeah, I noticed that too when I posted the script.

Unfortunately, even if I force screen 0 to Display 1 and screen 1 to Display 2 it still crashes. I've also tried to match screen 1 to Display 5 just to see what happens, it crashes yet again. I've also tried w/ multiple roms.

Works fine in 172.
