bulldawg got Reptile Man, an old unofficial uprade kit for Mortal Kombat. It uses a custom daughter board to stop people making rom swaps but it's a different type than we have seen before. Super rare. I don't have info yet as to what they changed.

If I was to guess, they made Reptile a playable character....?

Here is some gameplay footage. Most noticeable differences is sub-zero has lightning around him, scorpions spear is broken, you fight someone different after each round, you can fight reptile from any stage and keep fighting him and the difficulty has increased. When this makes it to mame I asked yourmkarcadesource on youtube to give a full video review on it.

I have a feeling this is an earlier version of the turbo/nifty hacks, but the hardware is different and I've only seen one other instance of this hack/daughter board and a friend of mine has it but the big 40 pin chip was blank. He sent me dumps of the chips years ago and the one chip that was good (u.105) is different than the info on this board at u.105, so there must be multiple versions of this and hopefully we will find them one day.

Thx for the info bulldawg. If memory serves me correctly, the gentleman w the odd daughter board who was missing roms thought it might be the 3.5 turbo ninja we are missing but it looks like he probably just has another turbo ninja proto. Where did you get the name reptile man? This was based off 4.0 also it looks like.

Actually the guy who had the board with the bad chip (jon) sent info and pics of the board to the french site mkkombo.
The guy who runs that site assumed it was turbo 3.5 because it was still unknown at the time what it was. Turbo 3.5 was shared to me years ago by video from a guy who no longer would talk to me and he also had a hack called Super Kombo Roms and the Black Ninja Edition. Also he showed a video of a turbo version of mk2. I don't know why he quit talking to me but I doubt he would be willing to share any of those anyway. Reptile man is what shows up instead of insert coins at the title screen, so thats the only thing I know to call it since it is in fact based off of revision 4.0.

That is an awesome hack can't wait to play it.
Just 1 question is there something in mame that can tell you all the special moves & the finish him moves as I can't remember any of them?
