Does the Aimtrak light gun work on retropie?

Anyone know if the Aimtrak Light Gun is recognized by retropie on a raspberry pi? Will it work in game or does it take a ton of tinkering?

Retropie is MAME from 15 years ago. Understandably, we don't support it here.
