MESSinfo 0.172

Update for 0.172 version, this is the web page for download: progetto-SNAPS MESSINFO.DAT.
Clean version with no additional files, can be found here: progetto-SNAPS Naked MESSINFO.DAT.
Important: From 0.166 version, the file should be placed in the "Dats" folder.

Are there any plans to merge messinfo with mameinfo? Similarly a merge of sysinfo with history, maybe keep the sysinfo name?

I'd be much more in favor of the messinfo.dat file being completely regenerated in MASH's "MAMEInfo" style before such a merger were to occur. Some of the MAMEDev's were just talking the other day about how such a thing would be a great thing to see.
Pretty unlikely that history.dat would relinquish their name. Alexis *might* accept the sysinfo.dat content as submission content, I'm not really sure on that.
In all honesty it's no trouble for the files to continue on as they are, but admittedly with no MESS around anymore it's questionable as to why.

I already spoke with etabeta about the merging of the sysinfo.dat in the history.dat some years ago (2013 -- date of the last sysinfo update). The answer was positive except for the right to use the descriptions from old-computers.com present in the sysinfo. We have to write new descriptions for some computer entries (many are already done).
The History.dat goal since 2013 is to give historical information for every (MAME) games, (MESS) machines and softwares.
