Ha ha. The emulator takes real NES games and plays them in 3D. Any further explanation, watch the video and/or ask the author.

I'm sorry, but the results look absolutely terrible. I guess it's technically interesting as an experiment, but it ends up looking like a jumbled, unplayable mess in all the games except maybe Megaman. It also completely destroys the artists' vision, like those filters that are supposed to turn pixel art into smooth outlines but a million times worse.

I agree - even the homebrew game that's there to test it with looks completely awful.

Keep in mind that it's an early beta. And it is pretty much a novelty/tech demo, and not something you'd necessarily use to play games on a daily basis.

I think it's pretty impressive when you consider that most NES games have no z-axis information at all, other than a few tricks of color and shading. To be able to pick that up programmatically and have it turn out recognizable at all is pretty cool.
