Neo Geo Problems

Hello,
I have been out of the Mame world for several years now and am just now getting back into it.
I recently downloaded the latest version, Mame 0171b. I am running the Mame command line version (not MameUI). I am having trouble running NeoGeo on this latest version of Mame, as Mame is giving me a "missing ROM or CHD" message. I have all the, what I believe to be, current NeoGeo bios and I certainly have the required updated roms. However, I have read that NeoGeo is no longer functional in Mame after version 0139.
Is this true?
Has anyone else had problems with NeoGeo lately?
Thanks in advance.

You read incorrectly. Neo Geo games work just fine both arcade and the home AES console provided you have all the roms required. In this case, you'll still need to find the proper neogeo.zip containing ALL of the bios roms in the package. The last bios selection was added in 0.167, so any archive stating roms for 0.167 or later should be fine.
You can produce a list of these via command line by: mame neogeo -listcrc Ensure your neogeo.zip contains all those.

I don't -know if this is related, but I'm having similar problems with Atari 2600 titles.
The "fix" for me was to add the following to the command line: mame a2600
Perhaps you need the same for neogeo to run? Maybe mame neogeo or some such.
Why not use the UI?
