mame glitchy screen edges

Hi there . Running Mame on Ubuntu 14.04 here. Sometimes when I launch a game full screen I can still see the background of the desktop glitching back & forth between the interface of the main game and the desktop. This is not consistent, but annoying as sometimes I have to reload the game several times before it goes normal. Also sometimes it starts well, but after being fine for a while in fullscreen mode it starts going haywire again.
I'm not sure what is causing this but it may be well worth mentioning that I am running Ubuntu 14.04 and have Expo running (desktop switcher) as well as Unity tweak tool with hotcorners.
thanks! thanks!

Could be your video drivers are corrupted, or your hardware is getting worn out. I had this happening in general on a machine, and that's what I think it was. Not sure, cos I don't use the machine.....
Also, try doing (the standard) removing sta and nvram files, and see.....Then inis if that doesn't work.

If you have an Nvidia card and the binary drivers, things flickering in Unity is an extremely well-known issue that you can Google for various "folk remedies" (Canonical seems unwilling to fix it, and it doesn't happen in e.g. Fedora or SuSE or Arch). For me, there was some stuff in an advanced settings panel that worked, but I don't recall the details.

I remember that as screen-tearing. Try turning v-sync on and see what happens.

I was able to solve the problem by going into the QMC2 launcher options and under -Fullscreen- option turning on 'switch resolution' option.

Some games do have glitches at the edges; on CRT monitors the "overscanning" meant those pixels were not visible. This is especially true of NES and NeoGeo games. Since you have stated nothing about your hardware configuration or what games you're playing, and my psychic is on vacation, that's about all I can tell you.
