GitHub? Wasn't there still an issue with some very old code not being made 'open source' by the author, or whatever? Doesn't the entire thing have to be fully open to be on GitHub?
Edit: Guess I missed when mame itself was put on GitHub. Haven't built my own in quite a while now...

It was definitely an issue to not have an Open Source license on Sourceforge. It seems less of an issue at Github, but we're also working to resolve the license issues (in case you missed it, MAME is relicensing.)
