A classic example of "sitting back and waiting for cool things to happen."

> TurboGrafx (how did they spell that?) 16 based.
yeah, they're pure TG16 / PCE games (same original game ROMs from the original factory etc.) rehoused in low-budget custom cartridges for a timer based PCE system.
there's nothing actually unique in the cartridges, no menu text, no menu graphics, just the stock PCE ROMs.
the cartridges are filled with some kind of epoxy substance, the edge connector is incompatible with a standard PCE, they run on a custom* (licensed?) motherboard made by a Spanish company.
The system has a timer and multi-slot support so you could cycle between a few games, there's no additional video display (just a timer / credit display?)
Really they're not THAT interesting, and are of debatable legality (the company that made them apparently claims they're legal, using original parts etc. but the developers of the various games claim they never licensed the games for use in this way)
* although system11 has said one of the boards is actually just a stock PCE board, with some bits replaced.

there will be the PCE version with a silly timer circuit attached, you're far better off just running "MAME64 pce parasol", exact same code without a timer circuit resetting the game if you forget to press '5' every 5 minutes.
I still wonder if there wasn't a version hacked in Korea to actually leverage the credit system that already exists within the game code to produce a more 'arcade' like version.
The game was clearly built as an arcade title, even if it never existed as one officially.

It would be much more interesting if they changed the software, yes I agree. Probably more interesting to viewers if mame was still arcade only as well.

47 carts just added to the source:

A true Dumping Union effort. A member in Spain mentioned a shop or two had a collection of carts. System11 wanted them for his collection (already having picked up Devil Crush and a PCB elsewhere). So the member in Spain grabbed them and shipped them to system11 who paid for the whole lot!

Sorry, in some cases the people in Spain couldn't read the title screens and made stuff up.
This one turned out to be Liquid Kids. Beraboh Man got turned into 'Super Foolist Man' which I'm particularly amused by.
The timer display in games is an actual pair of 8 digit LED displays on a metal bracket which connect via ribbon cable to the motherboard.
I need to play around with it some more, they do some interesting things like half muting the audio when not coined up, and when you coin the game and don't press start, you use left/right on the stick to select which game to play. What I don't understand is whether it will let you select a game again if you die, or if you're 'locked in' until the timer expires once a game has been selected and started. Does it even understand the concept of 'game over' and if not, what happens on Freeplay, do you need to wire a game switch button up?
I'm planning to write an article about the system over the next few days, I'll try to answer these questions.
I quite like it as it's tidier than hooking a PC Engine up to a JAMMA cab. If you get one though do remember to immediately remove the battery, they're all leaking now.

If there's any edits you'd like me to make to the Parasol Stars entry, please let me know. It's been a real pain in the butt thus far.

That would be something if same thing could ever happen with remaining Deco cassette games needing to be found and preserved.
Thanks to everyone involved with these cartridges.

Beautiful. I know the games are basically the standard PCE versions but it's good to have their existence documented.
Are there any missing games asides from Parasol Stars (which is questionable), or is this all of 'em?

With the submission I included a list of known titles which hopefully will be added to the driver comments.
That's just the ones I know of so far, I'm keeping an eye out for more. I have Doreamon incoming.
Also looking to fill holes in my collection whether they're dumped or not.

If you get any docs for the system, and need a translation, look me up. I can probably translate it without any major issues.

Was an updated PCE (SuperGrafx) HuCard supported in TourVision ? There are a few : - 1941: Counter Attack (excelent use of system capabilities) - Aldynes - Battle Ace - Daimakaimura (My favorite !) - Madō King Granzort

No, no chance of that. The system really is a PC Engine board sat on top of a custom timer/cart changer system. Later version has both boards integrated but it's essentially the same thing.

Hi many thanks! Also I'm updating the entry adding a list of available games for Tour Vision, and trying to include missing ones to get a more complete list. There no confirm if Parasol Stars was "released" for this system?
Regards.
