Reminds me of when my (fairly non-technical) friend told me he was getting a RadioShack computer in about 1993. I assumed he was getting a reasonably current Tandy PC clone. My jaw just about hit the floor when I went to his house and saw that he'd gotten a Trash-80. We had some fun with it anyway, but I had to break it to him that he wasn't going to be able to run any of the Space Quest games.
I remember when the Tandy ex 1000 computer came out. They were out about 2 months and I had to have one so I went to radio shack bought it, a monitor, dot matrix printer, memory upgrade and an extra external floppy drive. Spent a lot of money on it, over a grand just for the ex1000, in 87 that was a lot of cash. I was 23 bringing home 125.00 a week.
Had a lot of fun with that thing. I only knew of 1 other person at that time that had a computer. Friends would come over just to see it.
