ShmupMAME are the masters at gaslighting people into thinking that all arcade shooters need to be reprogrammed to eliminate lag, and then raining down dubious patches to MAME that accomplish it.

I've been into vertical shooters for about 30 years and I have no problem playing them on the .167 build. Just extremely delighted that Daioh and Desert War seem to play and sound good now. If there's any lag, my brain has unconsciously adjusted. Not sure what these critical chaps are going on about.
