Were there certain monitors/crts that had only scanlines or did they all have a shadow-mask?

Continuous-phosphor monochrome displays have no shadow mask, but all colour CRTs have a shadow mask of some form. Seriously how do you think a colour CRT would work without a shadow mask?

I am just curious, but is there a easy way for filtering out monochrome based games? Ok the vector games are manageable, but i guess there are plenty of raster-games, you would need to look for. Maybe a good thing for a catver.ini?
