It is my understanding there was no roms for this and it is simply an aftermarket/3rd party hardware conversion. Not sure how playable you can make it by starting MAME with mouse active and mapping the mouse -/+ to the run buttons but it is an option.

Ah OK I never seen a cabinet with a trackball but recently seen a post on another forum that showed the cab with the trackball CP. Thanks for clearing that up.

It's HORRIBLE! After the first 100 yd dash event, your knuckles are so swollen you don't want to play the rest of the game.

That's certainly a weird control idea, and I can only guess how it worked. I tried Taf's suggestion, didn't think it'd work but it does, and it was pretty bad. I thought maybe waggling it back and forth would do, but it wouldn't go very fast. Spiraling the track ball - oh, I forgot to use a mouse.... - seemed the best, but still slow.

Knuckles sore from what? How did it play?

How did you map the controls to the trackball? I'm looking to remap Track and Field as well as Marble Madness 2 to trackball to see what it's like.
Tnx!
