Re-Mapping Joytsicks
#346293 - 10/26/15 08:02 PM

I have a Ipac-4, and two ultra Sticks. My problem is that Ipac-4 in windows is recognized as joy0, Ustick #1 is joy1, Ustick#2 is joy 2. I would like to change it so Ustick #1 and Ustick#2 are joy 0 and joy1. I am using Win 7 and I cannot remember how to remap them in windows. Any help?

Windows picks which device is what number. Usually change from boot to boot on XP. 7 might be different. Used to be gamepad options, but there's no such thing in 7. Look under Devices and Printers. If you're already there and you can't assign device numbers, look doing that up.

Thanks I would have thought that Win7 would be up to date on changing JoyID's in the UI. Unfortunately not so much. I can use JoyIDs to change them but ultimately I will have to force the USB ID the unit make a startup script or AHK or something that will do that for me if I run into issues. For now Win7 seems to keep the joy # correct.
Thanks

Why is this an issue? The only reason I can recall was for those very few who were building removable control panels for their cabs.......

I would have thought that but I have an issue where keeping the USB connected to the same port is giving different enumeration. However, I believe my issue with the IPAC 4 in the other thread is linked to making me think I need to force the enumeration. A faulty USB connector would make the order change on load perhaps. I just had my Ustick 1 change from Joy1 to Joy2 and my Ustick 2 change from Joy2 to Joy3. Then on another restart it went Ustick 1 to joy1 Ustick to joy3 Ipac4 to joy 2.

Fine, but what did it affect?

It affected the mapping in mame and some other programs and I had to remap all the controllers and every time it changes I have to change configuration.

Hmmmmmm.....I don't have this problem on XP at least, with two ultrasticks and a jpac. Are you using an un-powered usb hub?
