SpinTrak with retropie on Raspberry Pi 2

How do I get SpinTrak to work with retropie? I am using the usb option. When I plug it in and run jstest, it shows up as event1 and mouse1, but I get an error message about kernel not sufficient enough to handle it. Any suggestions?

Any hid-compliant device should work in Linux and all..... If not, then I'd say that's your point address.
