[please help!] Samsung 4k monitor U28D590D... bad for 1080p PC gaming ?
#344766 - 09/04/15 08:12 PM

Nevermind. I found some reviews at youtube and heard from someone who have this monitor. 1080p gaming is ok. I will buy this monitor in the coming days

...

A computer store is celebrating its anniversary this month and they have tons of hardware with nice big discounts. One that caught my attention is a 28" monitor with 4K resolution from Samsung 10-bit color (1 billion colors).

Samsung UHD 28" monitor model U28D590D

Now, I've looked into reviews and information on the net. For what I've seen it's a beautiful monitor, but not so much for PC gaming unless you have a super powerful computer with SLI or crossfire config.
My EVGA GeForce GTX 970 have DisplayPort 1.2 so I can get 4K resolution at 60 Hz (60 fps).

The problem is, I can't play at 3840x2160 res since my computer is not that powerful. I play all PC games at 1920x1080 resolution (Watch Dogs, GTA5, Far Cry 4...)
If you have this monitor or know someone who has (had) it, what I need to know is will I run into problems if using lower resolution ? I know the monitor doesn't have native 1920x1080 res so it will stretch to 3860x2160. Some say the image doesn't look sharp and it looks fuzzy. Also, motion blur and response time are very high

... or should I just get a 27" monitor with native 1920x1080 res and be happy ?
I'm not sure about IPS (LG monitor) or (PLS Samsung) panels. These panels seem to make the image look too bright and colors don't look natural compared to TN panels. Sure, viewing angle is a killer.

Currently I have 23" Samsung with 1920x1080 res (model BX2350) 2ms response time but its panel is failing (blue tint all over the screen!).
Note that I also watch TV shows and movies a lot on my PC, and since I need a new monitor, I want a 27" or 28"... 4k resolution is just to be ready for future 4k content in 2016.

Pretty p.l.e.a.s.e. with sugar on top... help me to decide what to do!

I myself am looking at getting an Acer Predator XB270HU

144 Hz, G-Sync, beautiful color benefits of an IPS while still getting 4ms response time.

If I pull the trigger in about a month, I just pray no Dead Pixels or dust crap on inside of the screen.

Also am going with Amazon over New Egg because NE isn't the same as they were in the past and I've read bad things about returning an item like this.
