I have an issue. Mameui64 does NOT show the proper code text for history.dat (chinese symbols are not show well), don't know if the problem is the UTF-8 of history.dat or mameui64.

You need to use standard C file input/output functions instead of the MAME core ones. "stdio.h" is the C library to use.
Example: MAME core "filename.printf(blah blah)" replaced by "fprintf(filename, blah blah)". fileio.h in src\emu\ is your friend. Or grab my source and have a look at datafile.c

The 7z downloaded just fine for me, but will not extract or run - after extraction, it states that the file is 0 bytes. Downloaded several times as well. Now the download link is dead - maybe the site is working on a proper download?

There is nothing wrong with the download. I just tested it again. It is on your end. Try a different computer.

Below is the reply from Usul_G to my similar question in the 'MAMEUI' forum....thoughts?
"Yep, I noticed it too !
I tested it on two differents machines (windows 7 64bit) and the same problem was present.
I tried some tricks, like start the "exe" in administrator mode, in case of it been a matter of rights but it failed. In fact I found out that Mameui64 correctly create a mame.ini in the "ini" folder during the first launch but if you delete or rename this "mame.ini" file, when mame is running then modify anything in "game defaut options" menu, and finaly apply...nothing happens
Anyway I've had to modify "mame.ini" to active my options, and now it works just fine.
I also find an option in this "ini" file suppose to active the write option but that doesn't work better..."
