Firefox's Adblock Plus must be disabled to use YouTube now?

YouTube seemed to change their video player or something like that and now YouTube doesn't work in Firefox unless you disable Adblock Plus. Anyone else encounter this problem?

It seems the changes took place once Firefox updated to version 40.0

Did you notice that YouTube is using a different video player?

YouTube works fine in Chrome when Adblock Plus is enabled. But in Firefox, it appears that Adblock Plus must be disabled to view YouTube videos.

Taint so. I'm using Firefoc 40.0, and Youtube is fine.
Mind you - Youtube has switched people over to the HTML5 player, away from Flash. I didn't like this change, as performance was far below what I get with Flash. So I have an add-on that forces the use of Flash at Youtube......

Really? If your drivers and everything are working properly, the HTML5 player should get you fully GPU accelerated playback with the CPU completely idle, which is especially nice on laptops (on mine, the fans don't spin up for the HTML5 player, but they definitely do for Flash).

I haven't seen this at all. I'll check for 40ness...
OK, still on 39.0.3, but now it's updating... I'll need to post since it will need to...
...update. Now to look at YT... No issues, no ads, using ABP and latest YouTube Center Dev Build

The other day you couldn't download artwork from Dropbox while nobody else had an issue with it and now this (again, nobody else has the problem you are having). Not to bust your stones but honestly, try running a malware and virus scan on your system. Your internet browsing is angry at something.

First and foremost - I hope BK runs Ccleaner every now and then. It really really helps, and is a free download.

YouTube was always using Flash for me... and then the other day it starts using HTML5... which causes YouTube to only work for me when Adblock Plus is disabled. I'm going to try the recommended ublock.
I found this regarding it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tW6zsZevC0
... Apparently YouTube has made some recent changes to their video player.

uBlock Origin works great. And I don't have to disable it to use YouTube's new video player.
I got a question about uBlock. It says:
Quote:
Out of the box, these lists of filters are loaded and enforced:
- EasyList - Peter Lowe’s Ad server list - EasyPrivacy - Malware domains
More lists are available for you to select if you wish:
- Fanboy’s Enhanced Tracking List - Dan Pollock’s hosts file - hpHosts’s Ad and tracking servers - MVPS HOSTS - Spam404 - And many others
So do you recommend adding any of those additional filters to uBlock?

And do you also use the extension NoScript along with uBlock? Or do you just use uBlock?

I just use the default filters. They do the job. More filters just slows things down.

I've never felt the need to use NoScript.
I do use Privacy Badger, but sometimes it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

I use no script all the time.
The thing to remember about any of these filters, is that they can break things. You have to realize that by stopping things running, you can have unintended consequences. Personally I'm happy with that, but if you're not really techy-savvy (I think everyone here is, but just saying) it can be problematic.
For example - noscript breaks Amazon. All their fancy horizontally scrolling windows turn into traditional windows with a scroll bar. You can easily renable it for the session, or permanently, but the fact remains it breaks.
You have to get into a mindset that if you're visiting a site and it's acting strangely, it might well be noscript.
And make sure you use Crap Cleaner....

OK I'm trying out this uBlock origin you speak of.
