VGA to CGA
#343853 - 08/11/15 07:44 AM

I was wondering if this VGA to CGA would work to connect to my Sega Astro City monitor, it's a Nanao MS9-29S.

Sorta hoping that this would directly connect to the monitor and output the correct signal from my ArcadeVGA or other VGA cards.

No. It's not jamma on the video end.....unless you're wanting to hack around that.....but then you'll be stuck using non-native res signal, meaning some games will probably look artifacted. What are you wanting this for?

It sounds like it might work but the term "CGA" is misleading and confusing in this case, the CGA RGB interface used digital TTL level signals that aren't compatible with analog RGB as used on arcade boards and arcade monitors.

It is not clear from the blurb exactly what type of RGB signal the thing emits (and of course your arcade monitor will have no use for the S-video or crappy composite outputs).

You'd have to ask them if it does 15Khz analog RGB.

I don't understand why you'd want to use this type of converter with an ArcadeVGA card.

If you already have an ArcadeVGA you shouldn't need a converter to use your PC on an arcade monitor. All you should need is the VGA breakout cable to go from the ArcadeVGA to your cab monitor.

Unless you're trying to do something else, completely different that none of us understand...

Should be a pretty straight-forward hook-up from I see.

That converter is more for taking an older(mostly gambling) pcb game board & changing its' signal so you can use it on a newer LCD display. -that is if I'm not mistaken

Hope that helps. Sorry if I'm way off base here.
