MESSUI 0.164
#343106 - 07/29/15 12:52 PM

http://messui.1emulation.com/

MESSUI now comes with Arcade and MESS as standard. New filters have been added so you can turn it into arcade-only, MESS-only, or both at any time.

The command-line MESS (with NEWUI) is still MESS-only, as before.

Quote:

0.164

  • NEWUI - Devices dropdown menu has been renamed to Media
  • MESSUI - Software location per driver is now kept in game.ini instead of messui.ini
  • MESSUI - Multiple directories for snapshots, titles, marquees, cabinets, pcbs, control panels.
  • MESSUI - Renamed Picker tab to SW Files, and added multiple directory support.
  • MESSUI - Renamed Software tab to SW Items.
  • MESSUI - Fixed a problem with software-list titles and snaps sometimes not showing.
  • MESSUI - Added back the Samples column.
  • MESSUI - Made the directory dialogs open where the files are expected to be.
  • MESSUI - Added arcade and mess filters.

I've tried the new MESSUI but I can't find the filters to switch between ARCADE and MESS machines. Where are they?

Got it. But it seems that the UI has some bugs:

1) the 'column selection' filter is not working
2) on the SW panel, it shows 2 columns labeled "Filename"; if you remove one of them through the 'column selection' screen, both of them disappear for good and you cannot select a game to play.

I don't know where to report such bugs, sorry if this is the wrong place.

Got it to work properly now. Thanks for the tip.

But now I think there's something not quite right with the Software Picker... WHen I mount the MSX game "HERO" using the manual software picker to locate the cartridge rom file and execute it, the game hangs as it did before. However, if I run the game straight from the XML Software List, the game runs fine. What could it be? A bug in the way MessUI software picker is mounting the cartridge? It's even more obscure if you consider that when mounting the Yie Ar Kung-Fu ii game using the same picker, this game works fine! Go figure

Also be sure to check your romsets for HERO. That set and a couple of other sets were changed/fixed. The 32kb overdumped sets were removed and replaced with the 16kb dumps which were previously the alt sets.

I found the 16K rom and tested it with the SW picker, and it works! It seems that the 32k rom is the problem now.

Judge, what is an "overdumped" set? Don't MSX carts have 32k in size?

A dump that is larger than it should be.

Not always.

The System list headers are ok. But for every change you do, you have to restart the frontend to have the changes applied. It's not updating column changes on the fly.

On the SW picker list, the only column available "Filename" is displayed twice by default. No matter what, if you remove one of them through the filter, both will disappear. And when I do the trick into the MESSUI.ini to remove the mess_column lines, it resets the SW list columns to default, but the default is 2 "Filename" columns, so you get this column twice everytime. I couldn't figure out how to let only one "Filename" column in the Sw picker list.
