MAME starting multiple instances and K/B not functioning

As the subject line says, I'm on two monitors, but MAME is inexplicably starting two separate instances of the program on both screens. Also, the keyboard doesn't function correctly. This is all odd since my setup was functioning correctly earlier. I did download a newer version of MAME and Emuloader.
Any suggestions?

I get an error of
Error 3221225786: .
If you have "MSI Afterburner" or "eVGA Precision X" running, close it and try running the game again.
I do not have either program running or installed on my machine. I also went back to the previous build and am still having the same problems.

Yes, I am using Emu Loader, and yes, I am using an official build (the most recent).
